Curious Fox

A Walk on the Wild Side #2

"The field has eyes,
the wood has ears;
I will look, be silent,
and listen."

We have shared this mountain with the foxes for close to 20 years now and I never cease to be enthralled by their beauty, grace, curiosity and friendliness.  They will often sit or lay by us as we work around the house or property. Whether they are looking for companionship--or a handout--I can't say. Today this lady or fellow was highly interested in what my husband was doing on the deck.

Definitely has that lokk of "Whatchadoin'"? on his/her face! I've always thought that foxes were awfully cute and have always been appalled that they used to be hunted for sport like they were with hounds and such. People can be so cruel sometimes.

What a beautiful shot! How close was this? Do they ever "borrow" anything from your place? ;)

Linda: I know! That whole fox hunting business is truly appalling. Some still trap the poor things.

Cherie: This shot was probably taken from 20 feet away, maybe? They do get awfully close though. Some will actually eat out of your hand if you're brave (dumb) enough to let them. And yes, they do "borrow" things. LOL! Shoes, mostly, if they are left in an open garage. (Well, they'll take one shoe.) And they like stuffed animals and dog toys. But they never bring anything back. ;)

I've been tied up with other things lately so I haven't had a chance to visit my blogging friends as of late. I had to choose between posting and commenting yesterday and I decided to post instead. :) I'll try to catch up with everyone's blogs as soon as I can!

What a beautiful photo of a gorgeous fox. I love animals! Foxes are so cute and playful and yet majestic in their way too. You've captured it all in this shot. Thank you for sharing with us!

Thanks, Penny! I love having the foxes around and they are so beautiful in the winter. Not so much in the spring, though, when they are really scruffy looking. LOL!

I love that they only take 1 shoe, it's so passive aggressive of them LOL

he is beautiful
I love how the sun makes his coat look even more amazing

LOL, Dianne! It's a very annoying habit. I mean, what good to anyone is the shoe that's left??

How can you not fall in love with that face. I may even forgive the stealing of one shoe. Who am I kidding. No I wouldn't lol. I don't think I would be able to get any work done if he was around. I would be just as curious about him and enjoy his companionship. Lisa

Lisa: Well, we just learn to be careful where we put our shoes. LOL! The critters we live with can sometimes cause problems or cause concern (try waking up to find a mountain lion on your deck!) but I wouldn't want to live without them. They add so much to our lives. . .

Thanks, BumbleVee! Their color is really lovely this time of year. In the spring, not so much.
