Winter Comes Early in the Mountains

First Day of Fall: September 22, 2009

Winter has come early to the mountain. Our first real snowfall dropped more than a foot of snow--and it's still coming down. It's lovely to watch--but I admit that I'm not quite ready for winter yet. The aspens haven't even started to turn here at the house.

And it's always strange to see snow clinging to green leaves. . .

Snow is very beautiful - but at my age, it's something I dread. Cannot imagine seeing it on Sept.22nd! But I do enjoy seeing it in your photos, so long as I don't have to endure the cold and be afraid of falling if I venture out.

I love snow but we get a lot of it here on the mountain (close to 300 inches some years) and by May I'm done with it. lol I do love to ski and skate and snowshoe, though, so that makes the winter go by faster.

Beautiful photo. It is so beautiful when it's snowing, but not so beautiful when I have to shovel the white sh___ stuff:o) Lisa

LOL, Lisa! I'm good to about 2 1/2 feet. Any more and it's just too much of a chore.

Thanks, Nitebyrd!

This is gorgeous and I like how you did the frame around it!!

Thanks Regina! The photo itself was less than spectacular so I thought some kind of frame might help it. LOL!
